Winning students received just over $1,700 in prize money courtesy of the following sponsors: Hodgeman and Stafford E-Community Partnerships and Ness County Economic Development.
"Our regional event gives local high school students the opportunity to present their business idea and receive valuable feedback. Stafford County EcoDevo sponsors this event because we know our younger generations are the future of our economy and we want the students to know that they are not limited in what they can do. Entrepreneurs are most responsible for new job growth," said Ashlee Bevan, Program Director.
In addition to prizes and recognition, the first-place finisher has the opportunity to compete in the NetWork Kansas Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge on April 24th at Fort Hays State University in Hays. This event will include the top young entrepreneurs from schools across the state.
The goal of the competition is to expose Kansas high school students to entrepreneurship and give them a hands-on experience. The students’ work was judged by local entrepreneurs, public sector partners, teachers, or other adults. This is the 1st time Hodgeman County has brought this competition to their community.
