New AmeriCorps VISTA Alert!

The AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) program specifically focuses on eliminating poverty through capacity building. In other words, working behind the scenes on things like developing programs, securing funding, and raising awareness.

Stafford County Economic Development would like your help in welcome two new AmeriCorps VISTAs to Stafford County!

Meet these young individuals below:

Hannah Ward was born in Salina, Kansas, and moved to Arizona as a young child. She is currently a student at Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona. She recently relocated to St. John, Kansas where she serves as an AmeriCorps VISTA with Stafford County Economic Development while she continues her studies online. In her role as the Community Development VISTA, Hannah will work with communities in Stafford County to increase economic growth capacity as well as combat community decline.

Devon Wilson is originally from Kansas and grew in Atchison.  He’s lived in Poughkeepsie, NY for the last 5 years and attended Vassar College where he majored in Physics. He discovered this AmeriCorps opportunity while biking across the United States last summer as part of Bike & Build, an organization that raises money and awareness for affordable housing. In his role as the Arts-focused Community Relations VISTA, Devon will be working with Gray Photography Studio on developing a community arts center and arts programming.
