Successful completion of community service tax credit campaign provides for housing construction1/30/2015 Stafford County Economic Development recently completed a two-year campaign to raise funding for moderate income housing development through placement of Community Service Tax Credits awarded by the Kansas Department of Commerce. Funds raised through this program partially funded construction of a duplex in Macksville, will pay for housing construction in Stafford in 2015, and will also provide for construction to begin in St. John.
The tax credits were sold in 2013 and 2014.The initial allocation awarded to Stafford EcoDevo was sold out in September 2014, making the organization eligible for additional credits. These “bonus” allocations in November and December added another $90,000 in funding. In total over the two year period, $304,286 was raised. This has allowed the organization to engage in housing development with no increase in taxes or debt financing. Stafford County Economic Development wants to extend a big “thank you” to those who utilized the Community Service Tax Credit program and who made funding possible for housing development. 2013 Contributors St. John National Bank Kanza Cooperative Association Walter Mooney Stafford County Flour Mills Thomas Stickney Steven and Sheryl Schamaun 2014 Contributors Ron and Kathy Straub Southern Plains Coop Walter Mooney Thomas Stickney American Warrior, Inc. When I was in the process to get a new home I was getting good idea about handling these issues. The taxes are supposed to be paid when you are buying the property which is very hard to pay.
